FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Knoxville, TN, Nov. 1st 2024 – As the final notes of the 2024 Concerts For Our Own series fade into the night, we reflect on yet another extraordinary season of live music, community spirit, and charitable giving. Through the dedication of our all-volunteer staff, the generosity of our sponsors, and the enthusiastic participation of our audience, Arron Snukals and the Concerts For Our Own team are proud to announce that, once again, we will be donating $10,000 each to our three charity partners: Knoxville Pediatric Cancer Collaborative, Joy of Music School, and returning favorite, The Love Kitchen.
This year, our concert series brought together a remarkable lineup of artists, each delivering unforgettable performances that resonated with fans and made a lasting impact. From Steve Augeri, who filled the air with iconic rock anthems, to Exodus, who honored Bob Marley’s legacy with soulful reggae rhythms, every concert struck a chord with our mission of bringing the community together for a great cause.
Marshall Charloff & The Purple XPeRience paid tribute to Prince’s larger-than-life legacy with dazzling performances that transported the audience to the height of pop-funk royalty. Meanwhile, Here Come The Mummies took the stage with their mysterious funk-filled show, delivering electrifying grooves that had the crowd moving all night.
Behind the scenes, this season’s success was powered by the unwavering support of our 2024 sponsors, without whom none of this would have been possible. Special thanks to Food City, for keeping the energy high with delicious fare; Cherokee Distributing Co., for providing the beverages that lifted spirits; and Visit Knoxville, for spotlighting our city as a hub for live entertainment. Our heartfelt gratitude extends to Visionary Horizons, whose vision helped guide us to new heights, and to Olympus Car and Coach, who kept our dreams moving forward. A huge thank-you to our media partners WVLT 8, 103.5 WIMZ, B97.5, and the Knoxville News Sentinel for amplifying our message and helping us reach a broader audience.
But more than the music and the festivities, Concerts For Our Own is about the power of community. Through our concerts, we’ve been able to raise over $30,000 this year alone, bringing our total contributions to more than we ever imagined when this all began. Last year’s achievement was monumental, and this year, with your unwavering support, we’ve matched that milestone, ensuring our charity partners can continue their essential work in our community.
In just two years, Concerts For Our Own will have donated over $60,000 to local charities, a testament to the enduring power of community support and the impact we can achieve together. This milestone highlights our collective dedication to giving back, reinforcing our mission to use the power of music to bring hope and enrichment to those who need it most.
Our 2024 charity partners each bring something special to the table, embodying the spirit of hope and enrichment that aligns with our mission:
Knoxville Pediatric Cancer Collaborative provides critical support to families navigating the challenges of childhood cancer, helping lighten the burden and bring hope.
Joy of Music School offers underprivileged children free music education, nurturing creativity and building confidence through the universal language of music.
The Love Kitchen, which has been a staple of our charity efforts, continues to provide meals, love, and support to Knoxville’s most vulnerable citizens.
As we close out this season, we extend our deepest thanks to the volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, the artists who gave their all on stage, and, most of all, to you—our community—for showing up, cheering loud, and making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Concerts For Our Own will return in 2025 with more great music, more community spirit, and a renewed commitment to supporting the causes that matter most. Until then, we encourage everyone to continue supporting our local charities and the businesses that help make our concert series a reality.
